Council give the go ahead
At its November the Housing, Environment and Economic Development Committee (henceforth HEED) of West Dunbartonshire Council agreed to back our intention to progress to a Business Plan for our proposed development at Mountblow
The key part of the decision is section 7, which reads
7. Conclusions & Officers’ Recommendations
7.1 Clydebank Community Sports Trust (CCST) is a Clydebank based organisation aiming to develop a football stadium and sports facility within Clydebank.
7.2 CCST is keen to commission consultant’s to prepare a business plan for development of a stadium and sports facilities at Mountblow Recreation Ground however the CCST requires Council support (Without Prejudice) to enable them to progress with the Business Plan.
3. It is recommended that the Committee:-
a) supports a partnership with Clydebank Sports Community Trust to develop sporting facilities within West Dunbartonshire; and
b) agrees, in principle and without prejudice, to considering Mountblow Recreation Ground as a possible site for development of a community stadium.
Elaine Melrose
Executive Director of Housing, Environmental and Economic Development.

This will allow us to move on to the next stages of development, whcih will include
1. formalising the legal status of the Trust and bringing in a wide range of new members - Clydebank College, Strathclyde Police, the Community Health Partnership, as well as the many sports clubs that operate in Clydebank
2. seeking the additional finance that will be needed to complete the business plan
There are still a good many steps to be taken before we achieve our aim, but this decision by the Council - which we appreciate and applaud - is a major step forward.
