Clydebank slithered to a decisive defeat against Premier League Hibs at Kilbowie on Wednesday night.
The Edinburgh side, never looking in any danger, strolled through the game with almost embarrassing ease.
It took a last-minute goal to settle the scoreline, but Hibs always looked capable of stepping up the pace at any time and making sure of two League Cup points.
A heavy rain shower in the first half made the surface slippy, but instead of quickening the tempo, it seemed to signal the end for Bankies.
They were pinned back in their own penalty area for 20 minutes before Martin Hughes brought out the only save of the night from Jim McArthur.
In the 35th minute Hibs got the goal which looked even at that early stage to have made the points safe.
From a long throw-in Gordon Rae slipped the ball to Gary Murray, who turned tightly and knocked it high past keeper Jim Gallacher at the post.
That seemed to be the end of the game for Bankies and Hibs continued to press forward, content to knock the ball about.
Clydebank had a brief flurry on the hour, when Jackie McNamara headed a Campbell McKeown header off the line with McArthur beaten.
Bobby Thomson, Hibs' latest signing from England, never looked the player he was with Morton, but he still forced a fine save from Gallacher late in the game.
Substitute Rodier ran 30 yards through the defence and drew Gallacher out. The Bankies keeper slid out to meet him and the ball broke perfectly for the Hibs striker.
He calmly crossed to the far post where Rae slammed the ball in. Most of the 1,414 crowd had left Kilbowie by that time.
