Match Report

If ever there was an advert for summer football this was it. Bitterly cold, wet, windy and a pitch that was not conducive to any kind of passing whatsoever. The result was another awful game of football as punting the ball 60 yards up the park one way then the other was the order of the day.

In fairness to the Bankies this was the third match in a row that they have had to play in these kind of conditions and they have collected full points on all three occasions. There must be some kind of promotion credentials in there somewhere.

The Bankies had the advantage of the wind at their backs in the first half and the two goal lead at the break was well deserved. Joel Kasubandi, who had his best game in a while, rounded the keeper for the opener and Nicky Little calmly slotted home the second on the half hour. The always lively Mark Burbidge had two great chances to kill it but failed to make the most of the openings.

Bellshill played better in the second half and the Bankies less so. Substitute Byrne pulled one back on 68 minutes after some slack defending. The Bankies had to endure some hairy moments in the last few minutes but hung on to take the points. Largs lead at the top is back to one point, so the importance of results like this on days like this cannot be under-estimated.
