Clydebank Press
Clydebank were really unlucky not to gain victory in this friendly. Only some superb saves by goalkeeper Gordon kept the eager scots out early on - especially centre forward Jim McPaul, who had hard luck with a couple of tries.
However, in 39 minutes the Clydebank defence slipped up and Smith was allowed to pick his spot from the edge of the penalty area/
The ball curled past keeper Mike McDonald into the corner of the net.
In the second half, Rochdale took command and McDonald had to make some fantastic saves to save his team from a thrashing in a game they should have sewn up before the interval.
