Dumbarton edged out the Bankies by a single goal in a fairly drab friendly at the foot of the Rock.
The Bankies were the better side in the first half and were unlucky not to score with a Lee Gallacher shot that came off the base of the post. Dumbarton struggled to come to terms with Clydebank's pressing tactics, but emerged in the second half a different side.
The Sons moved the ball much better, and with a good deal more urgency and had the Bankies on the back foot immediately. The decisive goal was scored just seven minutes in when McKee started and finished a neat footballing move. Clydebank will be disappointed to have let the home side waltz through their back line so easily.
From the hour mark onwards there was a procession of substitutes and the game lost any kind of flow and became decidedly uninteresting. Dumbarton continued to be the better side and Clydebank were somewhat disappointing in the second period showing very little in attacking endeavour.
Overall, The Bankies must be relatively pleased with their performance against a side three levels above them in the pyramid, especially in the first half, and that is the kind of form to be taken in to the upcoming league campaign.
