Match Report

Clydebank started the match on the front foot, with Alan Munro flicking on a Rutherford cross in the 20th minute. However, Brechin defender Harrier was alert on the goal line and managed to clear the ball just in time.

The visitors responded two minutes later, with centre-forward Sanderson forcing a save from goalkeeper Madden. The game continued in a scrappy fashion, with both sides creating half-chances but lacking the killer instinct in front of goal.

Munro came close for Clydebank with a header from a Brockett free-kick, but Ritchie in the Brechin goal made a fantastic save. Soon after, a powerful shot from O'Brien looked destined for the net, only for Ritchie to tip it over the bar.

The remainder of the first half saw a flurry of activity in the Brechin penalty area, with O'Brien, Caskie, Hawkshaw, and Munro all having attempts on goal. However, the Brechin defence, despite some scrambling, managed to keep the ball out.

The second half began similarly, with Brechin's Sandison setting up a clear chance for Sneddon. The Brechin inside-right, however, fluffed his lines and allowed Madden to make a comfortable save. Sandison continued to be a handful for the Clydebank defence, forcing another save with a powerful shot minutes later.

A controversial moment arrived in the 59th minute when Sandison found the net for Brechin, only to see the goal chalked off for offside. As the game wore on, frustration mounted for both sides, with neither attack force able to find a breakthrough.

The closest either side came to scoring in the closing stages fell to Clydebank's Hay. His thunderous shot beat the Brechin goalkeeper Ritchie, but agonisingly cannoned off the post and away to safety.

In the end, a goalless draw felt like a fair reflection of a match where both defences were resolute but the finishing left a lot to be desired. Brechin's forwards were wasteful, while Clydebank lacked the clinical touch to convert their chances. The result leaves both teams with work to do as they look to climb the table.
