Match Report

Dundee Courier

A great rally gave Cowdenbeath the points in their concluding league match with Clydebank at Central Park last night.

Clydebank were the livelier lot in the early stages and they shocked the Fifers in the 14th minute when Munro netted after clever work by Wilson and Caskie on the left-wing. Cowden drew level five minutes before the interval from a penalty. The award granted after Mullen had been fouled in the box, and Dickson made no mistake from the spot.

Another shock was in store for the Fife side when five minutes after the interval Caskie restored the visitors' lead. The lead was short lived, however, for Cowden again stormed into attack and Sugden equalised with an unsavable shot from point-blank range.

This was the signal for a further fight-back, and almost incessant pressure on the visitors' goal finally resulted in Bostock snatching victory three minutes from time. The goal came as the result of an indirect free kick well taken by Jack after Ross had been impeded in the box.

After the match Cowdenbeath players and officials celebrated their promotion success at a civic reception held in their honour.
