Match Report

Clydebank Press

After their thrashing at the hands of Falkirk last Saturday, the 'Bankies introduced three junior trialists to their team and appointed new signing Drew Nelson, captain.

Right from the kick-off, it was Clydebank doing all the attacking.

Alan Munro and the two trialist inside-forwards were ripping the Rovers defence to pieces and it was no surprise when Alan Munro put the Bankies into the lead. He out-jumped the home keeper and neatly headed home a Gerry O'Brien cross.

He also had a hand in the second goal, when one of his shots rebounded off the post and Jimmy Caskie following up hit the ball into the net.

Clydebank took up play again just where they left off, with the entire forward line gunning for more goals.

Twice the ball was in the Rovers net, but both "goals" were disallowed for off-side. However in the 65th minute Jimmy Caskie boosted the 'Bankies goal total to three with a glorious 2r yards angular drive.

In foiling a dangerous Rovers attack, Clydebank keeper Mick McDonald, was accidentally kicked on the face and after some attention recovered.

In the 75th minute, the "trialist" inside left scored a beautiful goal, When he neatly headed, a-Gerry O'Brien corner into the net, for Clydebank's fourth goal.

Rovers consolation goal, came 5 minutes from the end, when McGovern netted a Tuddington shot that bad rebounded from McDonald. A great game of football to watch in which both trialist inside-forwards played really well. The trialist at right-half played a quiet but very efficient game.

New signing Drew Nelson excelled in the first half but faded out in the second.

Daily Record

This was a pretty one-sided encounter, with Clydebank forcing the pace and scoring four glorious goals.

It took only seven minutes for Munro to put the Bankies ahead when he headed home a perfect O'Brien cross.

In the 33rd minute. Rovers were again in trouble when Munro hit an upright and Caskie catching the rebound smashed it home.

Clydebank took up where they left off in the second half, and Rovers were lucky to survive a good pass from Caskie that was headed against the bar by trialist Inside-left.

Clydebank hammered home another two goals when Caskie fired in a 25-yarder in the 65th minute and 10 minutes later their Inside left trialist headed home from an O'Brien corner.

Five minutes from the end, McGovern scored for Rovers.
