Match Report

Clydebank's recent resurgence came to a juddering halt at Central Park, where they were comprehensively beaten 4–0 by an impressive Cowdenbeath side. While the Bankies showed plenty of grit and fighting spirit, they were simply outclassed in key areas of the pitch and found themselves overwhelmed by a home team full of confidence, organisation, and skill.

The Fifers were sharper in all departments, combining neat approach play with incisive finishing. Clydebank, by contrast, played some tidy football up to the final third but lacked the penetration needed to trouble a well-drilled Cowden defence.

In truth, there were no weak links in the Cowdenbeath lineup. Goalkeeper Ritchie was alert and assured when called upon, with his most difficult saves coming not from the Bankies forwards, but from right-back Graham Small, who posed Clydebank’s main threat going forward.

At the back, Rowland and Jack kept Bankies dangermen Ernie Collumbine and Jim McCallum firmly under wraps. In midfield, Kinnell dominated proceedings, while Clinton orchestrated attacks with intelligence and precision, playing a key role in two of the goals.

Henderson stood out in attack with a clever back-heeled finish for one of the goals—a moment of real ingenuity—while Donaldson and Clark linked up superbly, the former instrumental in creating two more.

Clydebank never gave up and continued to push forward, but they lacked the guile and finishing touch to convert possession into chances. It was a frustrating afternoon for the visitors, whose work rate was never in doubt but whose quality in the final third was found wanting.

This result leaves the Bankies still searching for consistency. After the promise shown in their previous win over Brechin, this was a step backwards—but with continued effort and a bit more cutting edge, they will hope to bounce back quickly.
