Match Report

Bankies paid a visit to Cathkin on Saturday and did not leave much of an impression; but for that matter the home team did not leave much of one either.

Russell was Bankies' chief danger man and he engineered many good moves towards goal, but the finishing touches left something to be desired.

Tommy McGhee was injured during the course of the match and substitute Walter Gerrard came on in his place.

Thirds switched wingers up front and this move resulted in the only goal of the match, Kinnaird being the scorer. .

---

A deserved win for Thirds who had most of the play, and only fine goalkeeping by McLaughlin kept the score down. Clydebank were rarely seen as an attacking force. They relied too much on Russell and Moy, and with Russell off form their attack never clicked.

Thirds opened strongly, and outside-right Rundell fired in a point-blank drive which McLaughlin did well to save. Minutes later Thirds' centre hit a 25-yarder which dipped just over the bar.

'Keeper Coates did well to touch a Moy header round the post. The winning goal, a simple affair, came after twenty minutes of the second half. A Henderson corner went to the far post, where out- side-right Rundell squared the ball for Kinnaird to touch it home.

Despite good tries by McLaughlin and Busby, Thirds were unable to increase their lead. 'Bankies were well served by McLaughlin and the Junior trialist at centre-half, while Connell and Busby were Thirds' best.
